How to deal with the terminal block when it encounters a short circuit?

Oct 02, 2021

The terminal is a kind of connector, which is used to facilitate the connection of wires. It is actually a piece of metal wrapped in insulating plastic. Both ends of the metal plate have holes for piercing wires and screws for fastening or loosening. For example, sometimes it is necessary to connect or disconnect two wires. At this time, they can be connected to the terminal or disconnected at any time without welding or wrapping them together, which is more convenient and faster. So how should the terminal block be dealt with when it encounters a short circuit?

1. Check the on-off of the wires: Remove the connecting terminals on both sides of the control computer electronic control unit and the sensor, and then measure the resistance between the corresponding terminals of the terminals. If the resistance value does not exceed 1 ohm, the wire is normal and can be checked next time. When measuring wire resistance, shake the wire gently in the vertical and horizontal directions to improve measurement accuracy. At the same time, please note that most of the terminal blocks and multimeter test leads should be pierced from the rear end of the adapter, but for the multimeter lead equipped with waterproof casing, it cannot be pierced from the rear end, because if accidentally pierced, the terminal will be deformed. .

2. Check the short-circuit resistance: remove the connecting terminals on both sides of the control computer electronic control unit and the sensor, and then measure the resistance between the terminal blocks of the connectors on both sides and the body. When measuring, one end of the exterior rod is grounded to the car body, and the other end is measured on the wire connectors on both sides. If the resistance value is greater than 1 ohm, it means that there is no short-circuit fault between the wire and the vehicle body.

3. Check the appearance and contact pressure of the terminals: each terminal must be removed one by one to check whether the terminal is rusted and dusty, and clean up the rust and dust. Then check whether the terminal piece is loose or damaged, whether the terminal is fixed and strong, and there should be no looseness when pulling the wiring terminal lightly. On the contrary, if the socket hole in the plug terminal is easier to pull out than other socket holes, the socket hole may cause poor contact during use.
